Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Shopify Plus Solution Architect with a strong enterprise technology focus to join our dynamic team in Burnaby. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and optimizing complex e-commerce solutions for our enterprise clients using the Shopify Plus platform. You will bridge the gap between business requirements and technical implementation, ensuring robust, scalable, and high-performing solutions that drive our clients’ digital growth. This position requires deep expertise in Shopify Plus architecture, third-party integrations, data migration strategies, and a proven track record of leading technical teams through the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical discovery and requirements gathering phases for Shopify Plus implementations, acting as the primary technical point of contact.
- Architect end-to-end Shopify Plus solutions, including theme development, app integrations, custom functionalities, and data migration strategies.
- Provide expert guidance on best practices for Shopify Plus, performance optimization, security, and scalability.
- Collaborate with project managers, developers, designers, and client stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Oversee the technical quality and integrity of development work, conducting code reviews and ensuring adherence to coding standards.
- Define integration strategies with various enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, OMS, PIM) and third-party applications.
- Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
- Stay abreast of new Shopify features, industry trends, and emerging technologies to continuously improve our offerings.
Required Skills
- Minimum 6 years of experience in e-commerce platform implementation, with at least 3 years specifically with Shopify Plus.
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect or Technical Lead on large-scale e-commerce projects.
- Deep understanding of Shopify Plus architecture, Liquid templating, Storefront API, and Admin API.
- Proficiency in front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React/Vue.js).
- Experience with headless commerce architectures and custom application development within Shopify.
- Strong knowledge of third-party integrations (payment gateways, shipping providers, ERPs, CRMs, marketing automation).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and client-facing skills.
- Ability to lead technical discussions and translate complex requirements into actionable solutions.
- Experience with version control systems (Git) and agile development methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Shopify Plus Partner Certification or relevant certifications.
- Experience with other e-commerce platforms (e.g., Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud) is a plus.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and serverless architectures.
- Experience with data warehousing and business intelligence tools.
- Previous consulting experience with enterprise clients.
